It Takes

The Empire Hill Climb takes a lot of people to make race day happen, and our volunteers are a huge part of the event.
From course workers and grid to registration, timing, communications and event support, volunteers help keep the Hill moving from the first car to the final run.
Whether you're an experienced SCCA worker or this is your first hill climb, we'd love to have you on the team.
Find Your
Spot.
There are jobs all over the event. Some put you right on the course. Others keep everything running behind the scenes. We'll try to honor worker requests while keeping safety and event needs first.
Course
Corner workers, spectator-area crowd control and traffic control at the top and bottom of the hill.
Event Support
Help support event operations, officials, registration, timing and the people who keep race day moving.
Grid / Pit
Help grid cars for transit to the hill and support traffic control around the service and staging areas.
Registration
Help competitors and volunteers check in and get organized before competition begins.
Timing / Scoring
Help support the timing operation that records every timed run up Wilco Road.
Ham Radio
Provide communications around the course during competition. A HAM radio license is required.
Steward
Experienced SCCA workers and officials help support safe and orderly event operations.
Media
Media must be approved by the EHC committee before the event and provide their own registered spotter.

$50 Raffle
Every volunteer receives an entry into our $50 volunteer raffle, with six winners.
BBQ + Beer
After racing wraps up, volunteers are invited to join us for the post-event BBQ and beer.

You do not need previous hill climb experience to volunteer.
There are opportunities for experienced SCCA workers, licensed radio operators and people who simply want to lend a hand and help make the event happen.
