The Empire Hill Climb is a timed competition on a closed section of Wilco Road. Competitors run individually against the clock on one of Michigan's most distinctive pieces of motorsport pavement.
Empire is sanctioned by the Sports Car Club of America. Competitors and vehicles must meet the applicable SCCA HillClimb requirements as well as the Supplemental Regulations issued for the event.

Find Your
Class.
Classes 1 through 3 are based on engine displacement and whether the engine is naturally aspirated or forced induction. Vintage is for vehicles 30 years or older. Exhibition covers entries outside the regular competition classes, while Drift is a dedicated timed drift class.

Exhibition entries participate outside the regular competition class structure. Review the current event information and Supplemental Regulations for entry details.
Drift
One Hill.
Against The Clock.
Stage
Competitors line up for individual runs on the closed Wilco Road course.
Run
Each driver attacks the hill individually against the clock. The goal is simple: get from start to finish as quickly as possible.
Time
Cross the finish line near the top of Wilco Road. The clock stops and the run is recorded.

SCCA Rules.
The Empire Hill Climb is sanctioned by the Sports Car Club of America and follows SCCA HillClimb rules.
The Empire Hill Climb Organizing Committee works with Detroit Region, SCCA to organize and conduct the event in accordance with SCCA requirements.
SCCA HillClimb establishes the baseline requirements for vehicle preparation, driver safety equipment, technical inspection and competition. Every competitor should review the current rules before arriving in Empire.
Vehicle preparation, driver eligibility and required safety equipment are governed by the applicable SCCA HillClimb requirements and the event's Supplemental Regulations.

SCCA rules are the foundation. The Supps are specific to Empire.
Each year's Empire Hill Climb Supplemental Regulations contain the event-specific information competitors need for that running of the Hill.
The Supplemental Regulations should be read together with the current SCCA HillClimb rules. They may establish additional requirements or procedures for the event and should be reviewed before you arrive in Empire.

Tech
Matters.
HillClimb competition places serious demands on both driver and vehicle. Prepare the car before race weekend and use the current SCCA HillClimb rules and Empire Supplemental Regulations as your authoritative guide.
Roll Cage
HillClimb competition requires appropriate roll protection. Verify that your vehicle's configuration meets the current SCCA requirements and any additional requirements specified for the event.
Harnesses
Competition vehicles require appropriate racing restraints. Check the current SCCA rules for installation, specification and eligibility requirements.
Safety Gear
Drivers need the protective equipment required by the applicable SCCA HillClimb safety rules. Verify current requirements before race weekend.
Arrive Ready
Event-day tech is an inspection, not build day. Review the requirements in advance and arrive with the vehicle and driver equipment ready for competition.
